Too Many Ideas and Nowhere to Put Them: How I’m Using AI to Get Organized at 55

Introducing My Working With AI After 50 Series

At 55, I don’t have a shortage of ideas. My problem is figuring out what to do with all of them. Where to put all of them. How to make sense of all of them. My visions were for several business ideas that I had for years, and yes, some since childhood.

One minute, I’m thinking about a journal. The next minute, I’m planning a workbook, a blog post, a video, a new business service. Before I can finish writing down one idea, another one pops up. And please, don't let me forget to mention that I am an avid die-hard crafter. I make t-shirts, jewelry, gift baskets, balloons, I've done it all. But that just goes to show how my interests peaks and I'm self-taught in all that I do.

I've ALWAYS been creative in naming things. And THAT'S where it all begins.

I would write down ideas and products in a brand-new journal. I have over 50 to 60 something journals gracing the shelves in my bedroom. But, It is something about going to the Dollar Store, or Dollar General, or Five Below and seeing a cute, clean journal. that makes me want to write more.....of the same idea.

Now, back in the day, I would research and pay a graphic artist, or research and pay a web designer, I would create the social media account page and attempt to build the momentum behind that new brand name. I didn't do the necessary research like I'll stay on that brand for a minute, then it's starting another. I would imagine the brand for someone else and go from there. I would even buy the domain to keep my idea as safe as I could before deciding to make it a full fledge business. Girl, I have so many domains!

Today, it's a different strategy, a different game plan, and I am expecting a different result. I have the all-natural over 50 issues like everyone else in my age group. Attention span is short, so if I'm reading, I need audio narration at this point in my life. Let's not forget the brain fog that occasionally pops up in the craziest moments, but that's that post menopause for ya!

Sometimes I know exactly what I want to say, but I cannot find the right words. Other times, I walk into a room and forget why I went in there. I can have a full plan in my head one minute, and the next minute, pieces of it feel scattered.

If you are a woman over 50, you may understand exactly what I mean.

It is not that we are incapable or that we have nothing valuable to offer. Many of us have decades of life experience, professional knowledge, creativity, wisdom, and stories. The problem is that we may have too many thoughts competing for our attention at the same time.

That is one reason I started learning how to work with artificial intelligence. Not only to create cute graphics, prompts, and designing products, but to help me to put these ideas in a sequential folder and keep my visions very organized. AI is my personal assistant. Not just a search engine.

AI Is Helping Me Organize What I Already Have

I am not using AI to replace my voice, experience, or creativity. I am learning to use it as an organizing partner.

When my thoughts are scattered, I can explain my ideas—even when they come out messy—and ask AI to organize them into something I can understand.

AI can help me:

  • Separate one big idea into smaller steps.

  • Turn messy notes into an organized plan.

  • Compare several product ideas.

  • Choose which project to complete first.

  • Create an outline for a book, journal, or workbook.

  • Prepare a checklist of what still needs to be done.

  • Schedule certain reminders, updates, or recurring tasks.

  • Monitor selected topics for new information.

  • Create a progress summary so I know where to begin when I return.

I did not realize all these possibilities existed when I first started using AI. I am still learning, testing, making mistakes, and figuring out what works for me. My notes and thoughts are better organized. Which makes my outlook on building my legacy one step closer, one page at a time.

That is why I am beginning this series.

Start With One Idea

The biggest lesson I am learning is that every idea does not have to become a project today. Also, every idea may not become a business, for me-but perhaps a business idea for someone else. My next step is continuing to build the social media platform about these ideas and hopes to inspire you to give it a try.

When a new idea comes to me, I can place it on a Future Ideas List instead of abandoning the product I am already creating. That idea is not lost. It is simply waiting for its turn.

I can then ask myself:

Which idea solves the clearest problem?

Which one can I realistically finish first?

What is the next small step—not every step—that I need to take?

This is helping me move away from constantly starting and toward actually finishing.

Through The HERVybe AI Collection with HERVybe Publishing, I want to share what I am learning with other women over 50 who have ideas, experience, and dreams—but need an easier way to organize them.

We are not starting from nothing. We are building from everything we have lived, learned, survived, created, and become.

This is the definite beginning of my journey working with AI—and I am taking you along with me.

Does this sound like you? Do you have so many ideas that you don’t know which one to begin with? Drop it in the comments and tell me what you are trying to organize and go to the HERVybe Bookstore and download your free checklist to help jump start your AI and Organization journey.
